●      Summary: Shame and guilt are two completely different aspects that creep into parents that are sometimes lumped as being the same. Shame is not productive- it attacks the self and tells you that you are a bad person. Guilt on the other hand can be productive, as it is based on your behaviors which you can learn from. In parenting, it is important to not shame your children, but rather have them reflect on their behaviors.
